Celebrating Turkish Children’s Day at Donergy Turkish Kebab, Singapore

On 23 April each year, Türkiye marks National Sovereignty and Children’s Day — a unique celebration dedicated to children, their joy, and their future. It is one of the few national holidays in the world centred entirely around children.
At Donergy Turkish Kebab, we’re bringing a small part of that tradition to Singapore.
From 23 to 25 April, we will be marking the occasion at our Millenia Walk outlet with a simple idea: create a space where children can enjoy something memorable, while families experience a bit of Turkish culture.
A different kind of ice-cream
Turkish ice-cream is not just about flavour or texture. It is known for its distinctive elasticity and, more importantly, the way it is served.
If you’ve seen it before, you’ll know — the cone is never handed over immediately.
There’s a bit of play involved. A bit of surprise. Sometimes a bit of frustration for the child, followed by laughter.
That interaction is part of the tradition. It turns a simple dessert into a shared moment.
At Donergy, our ice-cream is prepared in the traditional style, and we keep that playful element in how it’s served.
A small celebration for children
To mark Turkish Children’s Day, we will be offering complimentary Turkish ice-cream to children under 12 from 23 to 25 April.
There’s no complicated programme, no formal event schedule — just a few days where children can enjoy something a little different, and families can slow down and spend time together.
For families, not just for kids
While the focus is on children, this is very much a family experience.
Parents can enjoy our kebabs and freshly prepared dishes, while children get their moment at the counter. It’s informal, relaxed, and designed to feel easy: especially in a mall setting like Millenia Walk.
Why we’re doing this
Our team has deep roots in Türkiye, and for many of us, 23 April is a day we grew up with. It’s associated with school events, performances, and simple moments of joy.
This is our way of sharing that with the community here — not in a grand way, but in a way that feels genuine.
If you’re nearby at Promenade, Esplanade, Suntec or Millenia Walk, drop by with your family between 23 and 25 April (Thursday to Saturday). It’s a small gesture, but one we hope will leave a good memory.
